mgardred1Meagan Gardiner specialises in hand made miniature shadow boxes, consisting three dimensional pictures created in a range of vibrant colours and from found objects such as sea shells, wildflowers, farm seeds, gold nuggets, opals and pearls.

Her work is a reflection of the way her father taught her to observe the natural world during her upbringing on the family farm in rural Western Australia. "Dad seems to have an innate ability to make keen observations about nature and he loves sharing his discoveries with you. He notices everything from one curled up gum leaf on a whole tree, to shells the size of poppy seeds."

mgardsidebysideMeagan's artistic endeavours had humble beginnings - she sold her first handmade cards containing wildflowers and seeds at a high school staff room in the Goldfields of Western Australia. The front of the card had two layers with plastic windows; when the two layers were glued down the wildflowers and seeds were trapped between the plastic windows.

Today, Meagan's business "Cards with a View" is a contemporary craft studio that specialises in the gorgeous intricate shadow boxes reflecting Western Australia's vast natural beauty in delicate form.
