sharpham1a.jpgMelanie Sharpham is a Perth based design maker.  Her current body of work is inspired by the essence of colour, form and spirit derived from flowering eucalypts of Western Australia.  The forms are of polished low relief white or coloured porcelain, with a gloss interior.

"Eucalypts are majestic in their coats of dusty green and brown with offerings of exquisite and intricate flowers. The flowers, often unnoticed high in the tree canopy, remind us to seek quiet beauty in life.  Unique to our place of dry earth and forever sky, the trees with their almost secret gems, evoke our spirit and connect us here."

sharpham_001.jpgMelanie gained an Advanced Diploma Art and Design (Studio Ceramics) in 2002, and has since been widely exhibited in Australia.

She was selected in 2004 to participate in the Designing Futures professional development in design course with Craftwest, and was short listed (150 out of 5002 entries) for the Macef and Designboom "Ceramics for Breakfast" Competition and was exhibited at Macef Milan, Italy in January 2007.
